FACT Meeting News Coverage from Nov. 17 & Special Thanks

“YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Ministers, priests and members of the faith community from 16 counties came together to increase awareness about fracking and the process of drilling for oil and natural gas.

The gathering and informational meeting took place at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Youngstown.

The meeting focused on a moral and spiritual mission to protect water and God’s creations.

“Our goal is to educate other faith communities about the problems of fracking and urge them not to sign leases on their church land for fracking and to also educate their congregants not to sign leases on their personal property,’ said Ron Prosek, Convener of Faith Communities for Frack Awareness.

Reverend Monica Beasley-Martin asked God to bless water that was brought from Erie, Geauga, Portage, Mahoning and other regions across Ohio.”

Thanks to those of you who came to Youngstown and participated in our FaCT meeting on Nov. 17.  It was a really great turnout, and we all left, I am sure, inspired, reaffirmed, and more determined that ever to carry on the struggle.

Thanks so much to all who helped put this meeting together–Susie Beiersdorfer, Rev. Monica Beasley-Martin, and Kristina Kistler.  Thanks to soundman Richard, and to the wonderful chef, Marla and her staff.  Thanks to Judy Prosek for running the registration table.
Thanks to our excellent speakers, Rev. Monica, Rev. Neil Pezzulo, and to Eric Belcastro of CELDF.
Thanks to our clergy for leading us in meditation/prayer, worship, and blessings: our host minister, Rev. Matt Alspaugh, and ministers Rev. Monica and Rev. Karl Bucey.
Thanks to the Walkin’ Bosses musicians from Oberlin for their great music.
You ALL helped make this meeting a great success.  As discussed, we expect to have our next meeting in January.  Jan Williams of West Shore UU Church in Rocky River (west side of Cleveland) offered his church, contingent on available dates in January.  We will let you all know.
