Touchstones with Rev. Mary Grigolia

TouchstonesOct 5 – Touchstones: What are your deep experiences of being part of something larger than your individual self that also lifts and celebrates who you are? Perhaps hidden touchstones that support your faith in Life. We explore the 1st source of Unitarian Universalism: Direct experience of transcendence that affirms that all is one. Service led by Rev. Mary at 10:30 am.

Workshop: What are YOUR personal stories, your touchstones? What experiences gift you with faith in life? What touchstones will you share? We’ll listen to each other’s stories. And explore what they have in common and how they differ… And what it has to do with UU’ism.  Join us after the service for a finger-food potluck and this insightful workshop.

What Really Matters? (Potluck and Workshop Sunday)

487894_542809495752508_1690200112_nPlease join us this Sunday, April 21, for “What Really Matters.”

As an alternative to the “So What? Who Cares?” culture of narcissism, cynicism, and consumerism, Rev. Mary Grigolia reflects on what touches us as individuals and how we make a difference as individuals, as a congregation and beyond.

Our service will be followed by a delicious finger food potluck and workshop.

This month’s workshop will focus on implementing one or more new programs in our Fellowship.  You need not be a member or regular attendee to join us. We would love to have you!  Survey results will be shared and plans will be made to do some exciting new things in our immediate future.  If you are interested in getting involved with a new program such as regular informal fun gatherings for all ages, a book discussion group, or a Chalice circle, please do plan to attend!   YOU are what really matters!

Happy New Year! Join Us This Sunday – January 6, 2013 – BRING A FRIEND – Rev. Mary Grigolia Speaks: Transcendent Purpose + WORKSHOP & POTLUCK

Happy New Year! Join the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Erie County on the Lower Level of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, 431 Columbus Avenue in Sandusky on Sunday, January 6, at 10:30am. Rev. Mary Grigolia will be leading the first service of the new year, discussing ‘Transcendent Purpose’.

“Purpose seems straight forward enough. We’ve all seen the ads for the ‘purpose driven life.’ Pop psychologists, television evangelists and sitcoms echo the need for purpose and meaning. The assumption is that purpose and meaning are always individual. Especially in a society as individually-focused as ours. Something interesting happens when we look at purpose in congregational life. Folks who study congregations observe that groups thrive when they have a compelling purpose that transcends their own apparent interests. They foster spiritual maturity and depth of relationships with one another. They can grow in numbers and have focused impact in the larger world. And so in this new year, I invite you to dialogue with your heart, your deepest, wisest self, about your individual life purpose. Whenever I ask probing questions, I feel compelled to share my own response. My personal purpose is to serve as a creative catalyst for that which is dreaming of unfolding through us, collectively, wherever I am. I hope to do so respectfully and playfully, creatively and thoughtfully. What is your individual purpose? And from that place of individual knowing and dreaming, we may begin to explore together that which goes beyond the individual yet includes and needs us all – the transcendent purpose of the UU Fellowship of Erie County… Happy New Year!” – Rev. Mary Grigolia
